Literature Text
The palms of rain and soil applauded as they met,
twisting their fingers to knot a streaming brook.
Lightning followed, pounding its fists against the smoking sky,
While gusts of wind erupted; raindrop fireworks.
Mist began to swirl above the steaming pavement-
(reminding me of those winters by the lake so long ago.)
The puddles chased the passing storm to clear
the dusted streets and wash the trees of poor habits.
Again the lightning flickered, like a dying silver bulb
swinging by a string in some attic from the past.
The storm exhales once more to retract its mighty arms.
And so the afternoon awaits the sun to press her fingers through the clouds
So the birds can fly again.

Rain, my shelter
Rain...
I love it, everybody else hate it
The sound of raindrops scrambling against my window calm me down
In the rain
I can hide under a blanket
With Me, a pen and a notebook
And just write till my fingers hurt
I can hide from the world
Under a coat so no one can see me
But the best is
In the rain
I can cry
Without anybody noticing
Rain...

Escape
Empty twisted promises within a world so dead
Memories of heartache cradle thoughts inside my head
Wounds continue bleeding on forgotten storybooks
Listen to your nightmares and the happiness they took
Can't you see the shadows with the knives inside their hands?
Watching you as they invade your secret wonderland
Silence won't protect you from the thoughts inside your mind
Nobody can save you from the torture on rewind
I can't see the people, but they're always seeing me
Anywhere and everywhere
they never let me be
Sometimes they stand quietly behind my bedroom door
Sometimes it's the microphones they hide under the floor
